Ship spills fuel at Port of Wilmington

WILMINGTON, Del. - March 12, 2009 - It happened shortly after 9:00 a.m.

Some 1,800 gallons spilled into the Christina River. The hole in the tank was plugged and the spill was contained.

The EPA says the spilled fuel is not considered hazardous.

Coast Guard crews are on scene working with members of Clean Venture and the Delaware Department of Natural Resources to contain and clean the spill.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
