Court date for TV exec in wife's beheading

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) - March 13, 2009

Muzzammil Hassan is charged with second-degree murder for the Feb. 12 death of his wife, Aasiya, at the offices of Bridges TV TV in the Buffalo suburb of Orchard Park.

His attorney, James Harrington, said the 44-year-old businessman will plead not guilty at the arraignment Friday.

The president of the National Organization for Women's New York chapter has condemned the death as an honor killing - a characterization local victim advocacy groups oppose.

The couple launched Bridges TV in 2004 to balance what they considered negative portrayals of Muslims.

Investigators say /*Aasiya Hassan*/ had filed for divorce and received an order of protection against her husband.
