Concrete hits car, kills driver

FRANKLIN TWP., Pa. - March 13, 2009 The accident occurred around 9:30 a.m. in the northbound lanes of the turnpike at mile marker 76.7 in Franklin Twp. Carbon County, PA.

The 2000 Mercedes was traveling Northbound on I-476 when a chunk of concrete struck the windshield of the car.

Upon impact, the concrete struck the driver in the upper chest.

The fatal victim has been identified as a 48-year-old Pierre Louverture of Long Pond, Pa., Monroe County.

There were also two other passengers in the car at the time, Herve Phanord, the front seat passenger and Ingrid Duplessis, the rear passenger; both did not receive any injuries during the incident.

It is still unclear at this time where the concrete came from.

The accident is still under investigation.
