The Green Expo begins in Philly

CONVENTION CENTER - March 13, 2009 There are more than 200 exhibitors at the green expo this weekend and they're teaching you all about green living from start to finish.

"We have organic vodka, we have natural chocolates, we have eco-friendly beds you can lay on, and of course we have the latest cars from GM that are now hybrid, getting good gas mileage," Founder and CEO of Go Green Expo Bradford Rand said.

The Green Expo is here this weekend with tips on sustainable living in the Delaware Valley.

About 70 percent of the exhibitors are local.

One of them is Grid Magazine. It focuses on teaching Philadelphians how to work with their environment.

"People are interested in this and they want to know what they can do and how to get involved and that's really what Grid is all about," Alex Mulcahy of Grid Magazine said.

You'll find simple changes you can make at home to go green, such as switching to LED light bulbs.

"If the LEDs are implemented properly in the home, the energy savings can be as much as 80-percent," Steven Evers of LED Living Technologies said.

You can find products here that will help you renovate your home without the heavy hit to the environment.

Some of the countertops as the expo look like natural stone, but are actually made from recycled mirrors, ceramics, and glass.

In keeping with the green theme, SEPTA riders will enjoy half-price admission.

It's one of the ways the Green Expo hopes to leave its mark on Philadelphia.
