1 dead in South Philadelphia crash

An SUV that went out of control on a South Philadelphia street, has left a 19-year-old man dead and sent another person to the hospital.

The crash happened on Monday morning at about 2:00.

The SUV slammed into a tree at Vare Avenue and New Hope Street.

The surviving victim, also 19-years-old, remains at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in critical condition.

The SUV involved in the accident is a Greenfly Construction company vehicle. However, according to a statement posted of Greenfly's website no employees were involved in the accident.

AID can not confirm if the car involved in the accident was stolen.

Police are looking for the cause of the accident.
