Nine firefighters hurt in crash

CENTER CITY - March 19, 2009 - One of the firefighters was trapped after the crash, and had to be extricated from his truck.

The crash happened at around 11:20 a.m. in the area of 8th Street and Lombard street.

The trucks were en route to a fire scene.

A ladder truck and an engine truck were involved. The injured include five firefighters on the ladder truck and four firefighters on the engine truck.

So far there are few details as to how the crash happened.

Some wires were brought down in the crash. Peco crews are on the scene.

The fire, which was at 1212 St. James Street, was placed under control shortly after the crash occurred.

There is no word on the severity of the injuries from this crash.

No one was hurt in the fire.
