88-year-old shoved, robbed at home

WILMINGTON, Del. - March 23, 2009 - Police were called to a home in the 100 block of Delamore Place at 10:50 p.m. Sunday night in Wilmington, Delaware.

Investigators say the woman heard a banging noise, and went downstais to see what it was. According to authorities, she found the suspect, 30-year-old Kevin Hopkins in her living room with her purse in his hand.

Police say Hopkins pushed the woman to the ground, and threw mail at her. She grabbed a phone and called 911, and police say Hopkins pulled the phone away from her.

The victim ran from the house, and she was met by police responding to the call.

At the scene, officers could see Hopkins running toward the back door of the home. Police surrounded the house, and a K-9 officer arrived.

WIthin few minutes, the K-9 located Hopkins hiding under a neighbor's porch. He was arrested after being bitten on his forearm.

The 88-year-old woman was not hurt in the robbery.

Hopkins was charged with Burglary 1st degree, Offensive Touching, Theft, Malicious Interference of Emergency Communications and Resisting Arrest

He was taken to Young Prison for lack of $28,500 bail.
