Turnpike truck crash

March 23, 2009 8:44:02 PM PDT
An overturned truck wrecked havoc for drivers along a stretch of the Northeast Extension Monday night.

It happened in the southbound lanes just north of the Lansdale interchange.

Police are not clear on exactly what happened but say the driver lost control of the rig and flipped it. The wreckage blocked both southbound lanes resulting in at least a mile and a half backup.

Two people were transported from the scene one air lifted to Hahnemann Hospital, the other taken to Abington Memorial Hospital. No word yet on the extent of their injuries.

Southbound traffic is being detoured at the Quakertown exit.
