Man gunned down outside Old City restaurant

OLD CITY - March 26, 2009 The drama began inside Prive, a Mediterranean style restaurant and lounge located at Third and Market in Old City. It ended outside in deadly gunfire.

Witnesses say two men got into a loud argument and were asked to take it outside. When they went outside one of them pulled a gun and shot the other. 29-year-old Keith Greg was shot multiple times. He died two hours later at the hospital.

Greg lived alone in a home in the city's Strawberry Mansion section, where he was raised with his grandmother.

Neighbors who have known him all his life were dumbfounded by the news. John Frazier tells Action News, "Oh boy. Hit me good this morning. That was the last person I would think would get killed, because he was never into anything. I don't think anybody around here could say anything bad about that young man."

Greg's friends say he was easy going, but he wasn't the type to let himself get pushed around.

"He was a big dude," said friend Danny Payton. "But he didn't bother nobody. I never expect this to happen to him."

Police have been canvassing the neighborhood looking for surveillance video. They have witnesses, but no one has been able to give a good description of the gunman.

So far, there are no promising leads on a suspect.
