Cherry Hill Mall celebrates facelift

CHERRY HILL, N.J. - March 27, 2009 - The event Friday morning lured 1,500 to the store before it even opened.

As one woman said "What recession?"

"I love it. It's absolutely beautiful. I moved here about two years ago, so it's nice to have a Nordstrom's in the mall," said Susan Poyatt of Cherry Hill.

Even as the recession continues gripping the country, and our region, Nordstrom's president, Blake Nordstrom, predicts this new store will do well.

"We plan these things way in advance. When we open a store we're committed for 30 years plus. You have to make sure it is the right investment in the first place, through good times and bad. We want to be here and I think today it's far exceeding expectations," Nordstrom said.

The grand opening landed on Reginald and Dedre Edwards' 10th anniversary.

Lucky her!

They say, this kind of crowd is good for consumer confidence.

"There doesn't seem to be any recession today," Reginald said.

"It's nice and it's uplifting to come in here and see all these people shopping," said Dedre.
