WASHINGTON (AP) - March 30, 2009 Obama signed the Christopher and Dana Reeve Paralysis Act on
Monday as part of a bundle of bills designed to expand wilderness
protection. Lawmakers brought together almost 170 separate measures
together for Obama to sign at the White House.
The Reeve measure provides care for paralyzed persons and others
with disabilities.
The late Christopher Reeve became as an advocate for embryonic
stem cell research after he was paralyzed in a 1995 horseback
riding accident in Virginia. He died in 2004 of heart failure.
His son, Matthew Reeve, attended the bill signing.
