The California desert resort wants college students to spend spring break there.
It wasn't too long ago the city of aging snowbirds declared no thongs, no amplified music and no dancing.
Now, in the face of the economic slump, the community wants college students, their thongs and especially their bucks.
The Palm Springs tourism bureau sent out a text message to 55,000 college kids this year, saying, "Skip Cabo. Come to Palm Springs."
One Holiday Inn reports it's booked more than 2,000 spring breakers.
