Corzine adding green to the garden state

PISCATAWAY, N.J. (AP) - March 31, 2009 -

The signing is happening at a heat and power production facility at Rutgers University.

The first bill provides grants for combined heat and power production and energy efficiency projects promoting renewable energy.

The second permits wind and solar facilities to be located within industrial zones.

The third requires developers to offer solar energy systems in some new home construction.

Cogeneration facilities like the one Corzine is visiting in Piscataway use a heat or power engine to simultaneously generate electricity and heat.

The bills help further the state's Energy Master Plan, which requires New Jersey to get more of its power from renewable sources like wind and solar energy.
