DUI suspect rams 3 cars in W. Phila.

A suspected drunk driver slammed into 3 parked cars after a short chase with police in West Philadelphia.

At 1:11 a.m. police officers observed a Jeep traveling at a high rate of speed without its light one go through a red light at 39th and Walnut Streets.

When police attempted to stop the vehicle, the operator slowed down but never stopped. He continued down Walnut Street and the police lost sight of the vehicle.

As police approached 44th and Walnut they saw that the Jeep lost control and hit 3 parked cars. They observed the driver exit the vehicle and take off on foot, running west on Walnut. Police caught him 3 blocks away at 4500 Locust Street.

The suspect has been identified as 19-year-old Jamir Davis from the 4500 block of Market Street.

Davis was transported to HUP and charged with DUI and related offenses.
