Rutgers names first black chancellor

Rutgers University's board appointed the school's first black chancellor Thursday. Wendell Pritchett will be the top official on Rutgers' Camden campus when he starts June 30.

The 44-year-old holds degrees from Brown University, Yale and Penn.

Pritchett has served in the administration of Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter and on a task force for Barack Obama's presidential campaign.

He has written two books dealing with urban policy and history.
