The fire broke out in a rowhome on the 500 block of Herman Street.
Strong wind was fanning the flames. They spread so fast, that a man had to leap from a second floor window. He survived, but is hospitalized at Einstein.
The fire damaged several adjoining homes.
A family pet died in the ferocious blaze.
Investigators have not said what sparked the fire.
