Groomsman pleads in deadly crash

CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE, N.J. - April 5, 2009 - Jayson Maykut faces four years in state prison after pleading guilty Friday to vehicular manslaughter. The 29-year-old Delaware man will be sentenced June 5.

Maykut said he had about 10 cocktails at the May 15, 2008 dinner in Upper Township, but at the time didn't feel he was too impaired to drive. And when 25-year-old Megan A. Perry of Wilmington, Del. asked for a ride to nearby Sea Isle City - where the wedding was taking place the next day - he agreed to take her.

A short time later, Maykut's car struck a utility pole in Sea Isle City. Perry was pronounced dead at the scene, while Maykut suffered undisclosed injuries.
