This bank is still taking deposits

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - April 6, 2009

It's the sperm bank at the Oregon Health & Science University.

With the state's unemployment rate now in double digits, a lot of guys are looking to pick up some extra cash at the fertility clinic.

Donors are paid 100 bucks and approved men can make donations twice a week.

But the Oregonian newspaper reports it's not easy landing on the donors list.

Most potential sperm donors are turned away.

The recession is also tough on potential patients at the fertility clinic.

Fewer people are willing to spend the $12-15,000 needed for a pregnancy with donated sperm.
