Regulators suspend NJ doc's license

TRENTON, N.J. - April 8, 2009 - The state is still investigating the outbreak.

But nearly 3,000 patients who saw Dr. /*Parvez Dara*/ were advised to get tested after five cancer patients tested positive for the blood-borne infection.

Dara's attorney had asked the Board of Medical Examiners to reinstate Dara's medical license, or at least allow him to perform consultations and exams.

Dara says there's no direct evidence that the hepatitis cases are linked to him.

Members of the state Board of Medical Examiners decided to temporarily suspend the Ocean County oncologist's license on an emergency basis on Friday.
