The investigation began Thursday, police say, when the teen's mother notified authorities of an alarming text message she found on the girl's cell phone.
The message, police say, indicated that the sender was sexually active with the girl. Police say they were able to determine the sender was McDorman.
Investigators say the two were involved in a relationship since October 2008 that involved the victim sending several nude photographs of herself to McDorman's cell phone.
The relationship continued and, police say, in March of this year, the pair had engaged in sexual intercourse.
McDorman was arrested and charged with 15 counts of using a Computer to Unlawfully Depict a Child Engaging in a Prohibited Sexual Act (F), 1 count of Rape Fourth Degree (F), and 15 counts of Possession of Child Pornography (F).
McDorman was released after posting a $100,000 secured bail.
