Police say the report of a rape near Haverford College in Pennsylvania was false, and no attack had occured. Two passersby found a woman crying for help about 4 p.m. Tuesday just off a walking trail near the Ardmore Ice Skating Rink.

The woman, a student at Haverford College, said she was attacked and assaulted by a man with a gun.

She said the man forced her to a secluded part of the woods near the trail, ordered her to remove some clothing and assaulted her.

The victim said she lost conciousness during the assault, and when she recovered her attacker was gone.

On Wednesday, police said that through their investigation they determined that the report was fictitious, and the evidence found at the scene was fabricated by the student.

The Haverford Township Police Department says it is working along with the Haverford College Administration to address community member and student concerns regarding this issue.
