It happened just after midnight at Schuylkill River Road and McCoy's Lane in the Swedeland section of Upper Merion.
A 1999 Ford pick up truck and a 2005 Toyota Corrolla collided head on.
The male driver of the Toyota was pronounced dead at the scene. His female passenger had to be extricated from the vehicle and was flown by medivac to The Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
The driver of the pick up truck was flown to Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia.
Both Victims are in critical but stable condition.
Police are trying to determine what caused the deadly crash.
