Doctors at Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children reported to police in March that the baby boy being cared for by Johns had suffered multiple injuries.
In court records, police say the boy's ribs were broken and the injuries could have been life-threatening because any one of the fractured ribs could have punctured the baby's lung.
Police say Johns told investigators that she squeezed the baby very hard when rocking to get him to stop crying. The state Division of Family Services took custody of the infant.
