Man struck, killed by NJ train

MANASQUAN, N.J. - April 17, 2009- The accident caused delays for commuters who ride the North Jersey Coast Line between Bay Head and Long Branch.

NJ Transit spokesman Joe Dee it's believed the man was struck by a northbound train near the Stockton Avenue crossing in Manasquan. The body was spotted by the crew of a later train.

The accident is under investigation and the victim's name has not been released.

Diesel service between Bay Head and Long Branch was temporarily suspended between 5 a.m and 6 a.m.

NJ Transit says service resumed using one of the two tracks and trains operated about 30 minutes behind schedule until 9 a.m.
