130 homes on the auction block

MEDIA, Pa. - April 17, 2009

It was another huge inventory as the foreclosure rate continues to soar; it is up 150-percent over the last year in Delaware County.

The owners of one Broomall home, which was on the list, got a last minute temporary reprieve.

"Well, of course, I'm relieved, but we've still got problems, it's only for a month. We can see what we can," Anne Tremonte said.

Action News first spoke with Anne and John Tremonte last night at 11.

They were part of a group of homeowners trying to get help from Congressman Joe Sestak.

Sestak partnered the group up with Community Legal Services which got a judge to grant a 30-day postponement for the Tremonte's and their home of 43 years.

"It gives the clients one month to negotiate with the mortgage company, and possibly, for us to file some other motions," Jennifer McKay of Community Legal Services said.

The Tremonte's are in their 80's and say the collapse of their construction business has them $30,000 dollars behind in their mortgage payments and their road to salvation is narrow.

"She said something about a possible reverse mortgage if they get them to reduce the principle," John Tremonte said.

"I've been here for so long. I don't even know where we would go," Anne Tremonte said.
