Scanning the past with Penn mummies

April 19, 2009 10:45:21 AM PDT
A couple of 2,000-year-old patients checked into the hospital of the University of Pennsylvania this morning. Two ancient mummies that were on display at the University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology were carefully transported to the hospital. There, they underwent CT scans.

Researchers are hoping the scans will give them new insight into the Mummies history.

Eventually, the museum hopes to have all the mummies in their collection undergo a CT scan.
