Burglars trash Delaware home

DOVER, Del. – April 21, 2009 Two burglaries with one thing in common, the culprits were out to destroy more than they were out to steal.

"I don't sleep, I actually sleep on the couch," said Stephanie Uroebulam.

It's no wonder she can't sleep, not after coming home Friday to see her home completely trashed with only small items like DVD's stolen.

"Everything was all over. We had ketchup, hot sauce all over the walls."

Ketchup was even poured inside a TV set, rendering it useless. A can of ravioli was smeared on the sofa and bleach was poured over clothes in every bedroom of the home. Police doubt if the family was targeted, Stephanie said she moved to Dover from New Jersey in October and knows very few people on Hayes Circle leaving her with one question, why?

"It's rare in your break-ins that people go in and almost seeming with the purpose of causing damage. In this case that seems more the intent then the actual theft that took place," said Lt. Tim Stump.

The lieutenant is tight lipped about what happened on North Governors Avenue saying only the M-O was the same, vandals gone wild.

"People work hard for what they own and they don't deserve to have people destroying it."

Dover police suspect both cases were teenage pranks but nobody's laughing. When the suspects are caught they'll be charged with felonies.
