It all began on Tuesday, as authorities say a man, posing as a social worker, managed to gain the trust of a woman on New Jersey Avenue, but once inside her home, he proved to be an imposter.
After threatening to harm the woman and other occupants of the home with a weapon, police say he sexually assaulted the woman.
Officials identified him as Michael Wayne Williams and arrested him at the Courthouse motel where he was staying.
After arresting him, authorities attempted to contact the person staying with him, but when they went inside, they found a woman dead.
The woman turned out to be his wife, 32-year-old Ebony Flanders.
Authorities are trying to figure out how Flanders died; her death is labeled suspicious.
Her relatives say the couple had been estranged and had filed for divorce, but when Williams had threatened her last night, she went with him to protect her family.
"This man should never been back out on the streets; anyone that knew that man or even got a glimpse of him, got an eerie feeling about him and we had that feeling from the moment we met him," Shelina Flanders, Ebony's sister, said.
"My mom was a beautiful woman and she took care of all seven of her kids by herself; she would take anybody in if they were down," Ebony's daughter, Antoinette Flanders, said.
