Regis to make "Millionaire" return

Months after "Slumdog Millionaire" wins the best picture Oscar, ABC is bringing "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire" back to primetime with Regis Philbin as host.

The U.S. version will run for 11 nights in the summer. The gameshow was a huge American hit when it premiered ten years ago, in August 1999.

But, by 2002, people were tired of it, especially after ABC aired the show too often. Ratings dropped and it was canceled.

A syndicated daytime version has aired since 2002, with Meredith Vieira as host.

The revival of the primetime show with Regis Philbin will start August 9th and end August 23rd, airing Sundays through Thursdays.
