A 2006 Mack tractor-trailer, driven by John Burton, 40, of Philadelphia, was traveling southbound in the center lane.
A 1993 Nissan Maxima driven by Aisha Skinner, 32, of Wilmington, Delaware, was traveling in the right lane next to the Mack truck.
Police say Skinner changed lanes and crashed into the tractor trailer. The car then spun out of control and into a concrete barrier.
Skinner was treated and released at Christiana Hospital. She was cited with Unsafe Lane Change.
Burton was not injured.
Seconds after this first crash occurred, traffic southbound began to come to an abrupt stop to avoid the vehicles ahead.
That's when, police say, a 15-passenger bus driven by Delmar Joyner, 75, of Wilmington stopped quickly and was rear ended by a 2005 school bus driven by Sergio Vargas Alvarado, 52, of Wilmington.
The 15-passenger bus was a shuttle bus for Bank of America. It was occupied by the driver and three passengers. Everyone was treated and released at Christiana Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The school bus was not transporting any students at the time of the crash and the driver was not injured.
Alvarado was cited with Inattentive Driving.
