A bounty hunter who allegedly ran over a New Jersey man he was trying to apprehend has been charged with aggravated assault. George Eshareturi of the Bronx, N.Y. was driving a sport utility vehicle in Toms River Wednesday night when authorities say he saw Rodney Cutler of Lakewood, who was wanted on three warrants.

Eshareturi then allegedly chased after Cutler, briefly driving the wrong way on a highway and hitting two other vehicles before he struck Cutler from behind. Eshareturi then put his vehicle in reverse and backed off Cutler before putting him in handcuffs.

Cutler was treated at a local hospital for injuries that authorities said were not life-threatening.

Eshareturi was charged Friday and released on $2,500 bail.
