7-block police chase in Wilmington

On Sunday afternoon at around 5:30 p.m., a Newport Police officer was in Wilmington and spotted a person driving recklessly. The Newport officer started pursuing the driver and a chase ensued.

The chase continued for seven blocks until the driver hit a couple of parked vehicles.

The driver then ended up on the lawn of a home on the 600 block of Union Street.

The driver was taken into custody for being in possession of a stolen vehicle.

Blood is being tested to see if the driver was under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
