Vice President Joe Biden says spending $5 billion on railroads under the federal recovery act is one of the best investments the nation can make in transportation. Biden spoke Monday at the Wilmington, Del., train station he has used for more than 30 years to commute to Washington. The station, which was built in 1907, is getting $20 million in stimulus money.

Railroads around the nation are set to receive $1 billion a year for five years under the stimulus plan. Biden says its the biggest investment in American rail in modern history.

Biden says investing in railroads cuts down on pollution and crowded roads.
