Engine troubles after fillups at Del. station

An Exxon fuel distributor says at least seven people have reported car troubles after they filled up at a Newark gas station. Jill Yursha of Middletown says her Toyota Highlander died about a quarter of a mile from the Exxon station on Del. 896 after she filled up Monday.

Bill Gordy, president of J. William Gordy Fuel Co. in Delmar, the Exxon station's fuel distributor, says at least seven customers have reported problems.

Gordy purchases fuel processed at the Valero refinery in Delaware City and distributes it to Exxon gas stations.

Valero spokesman Bill Day says the company is investigating whether water entered fuel supplies at the Delaware City refinery or somewhere along the fuel's transportation system.
