Mom charged with child endangerment

NEW CASTLE, Del. (AP) - May 6, 2009 Megan Carr was charged Saturday with endangering the welfare of a child and officials say her 15-year-old son was placed with relatives pending an investigation. City code enforcement officials condemned Carr's condominium in the 600 block of West 11th Street.

Officers investigating a trespassing complaint last month found the teen staying at the home while Carr was away. In Carr's bedroom, police found a box of kittens, one of them dead, and piles of trash.

Police say the bathroom and the teen's bedroom were covered in trash and feces.

Animal control officers removed 10 live kittens from the home.
