Jack McCollough (mik-KAHL'-uh) reported the incident happened around 2 a.m. Tuesday and says he was cut on his face. A law enforcement official says McCollough claims Sutherland attacked him after an argument at the club in the fashionable SoHo neighborhood. The official spoke on the condition of anonymity because the investigation is ongoing.
No arrests have been made.
The police official says detectives are planning to interview Sutherland and possibly actress Brooke Shields, who may have seen the incident.
Calls to representatives for McCullough, Sutherland and Shields weren't immediately returned.
