8 displaced after Bethlehem fire

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - May 8, 2009 - It happened at around 8:30 a.m. on the 400 block of Carlton Street.

Investigators say a discarded cigarette sparked the blaze, a fire that injured some Lehigh University students and a firefighter.

The fire was so intense they had to call in off-duty firefighters to assist.

A stretch of Route 378 was also closed down during the firefight.

The injured firefighter was treated at the hospital for an ankle injury, and the students, suffering from smoke inhalation, will be OK.

In all eight people are out of their homes.
