WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - May 13, 2009 - Twenty-six-year-old Daniel Troya was convicted by a federal jury
in the October 2006 killings of a husband, wife and their two young
sons on a darkened stretch of Florida's Turnpike.
Troya's co-defendant, 25-year-old Ricardo Sanchez Jr., is due to
be sentenced later Wednesday. The jury recommended the death
penalty for both men.
The victims were Jose Luis Escobedo, 28; his wife, Yessica
Guerrero Escobedo, 25; and their sons, Luis Julian, 4, and Luis
Damian, 3.
The family had recently moved from the Brownsville, Texas, area
to Palm Beach County.
