Wilmington firefighters fought an extra alarm building fire Thursday night. The fire blazed at 6th and Clayton streets shortly after 7:00 p.m.

Flames engulfed the two story building that officials at the scene say appeared to be under renovation.

Earlier in the day, other buildings in the apartment complex had been checked for functioning sprinkler systems.

No injuries have been reported.

There is no word yet on a cause.
