Del. teen charged with break-in attempt

ELSMERE, Del. (AP) - May 14, 2009 Police say the 17-year-old knocked on the woman's door in the Hidden Valley Apartments on Bonwood Road at about 1:10 p.m. Wednesday.

Officer Tracey Duffy says when no one answered, the teen walked to a side window, removed the screen and began raising the window.

At the same time, the resident called 911. Duffy says when the teen heard the woman call police, he fled.

Police spotted the teen nearby and charged him with attempted burglary. The teen was committed to Howard Young Correctional Facility in lieu of a $5,000 secured bail.
