The shooting was along the 1500 block of South 24th Street.
Police found the 26-year-old victim on the street suffering from several gunshot wounds, including one to the head.
He died at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital shortly after arriving there.
Police are looking into reports that a dark-colored car carrying as many as four men fled the scene.
