Police car crash, Drexel library lockdown

POWELTON - May 15, 2009 - At approximately 5:00 p.m. Friday evening, two suspects robbed a delivery truck driver on the 500 block of Hanson Street.

While one of those suspects was caught a short time later, the other fled towards 33rd and Market Streets, an area near the library of Drexel University.

As a precaution, the library was evacuated while police searched the building.

Meanwhile, just after 5:00 p.m., a police car and another vehicle collided at the intersection of 34th Street and Haverford Avenue, as the officer was responding to a call concerning the delivery truck robbery.

Both the officer and the other car driver suffered minor injuries.

The second robbery suspect remains at large.
