At 83, she's considered the only court reporter in Nevada who still uses shorthand.
In this day of computerized stenotype machines, Butterfield admits using a pen and pad is archaic.
But she says her old-fashioned ways still work just fine.
She tells the Las Vegas Review-Journal she's cut back to just working a few days a month.
But Butterfield has fond memories of recording testimony.
She says she was the stenographer on depositions from the likes of Johnny Carson and Frank Sinatra.
