An 89-year-old southern Indiana woman who hasn't been to the East Coast for decades has been receiving notices that that she failed to pay tolls on the New Jersey Turnpike and at the Fort McHenry Tunnel near Baltimore.

Zelpha Mitsch of Georgetown has received 24 letters saying that vehicles with Indiana truck plates registered to her have blown through toll booths in New Jersey and Maryland. She faces several hundred dollars in fines.

Mitsch says she thought she removed the plate from her truck when it expired three years ago.

Her attorney says law enforcement agencies nationwide have been alerted. He suspects that someone visiting Mitsch's livestock farm stole the plate.
