Del. man charged with 6th DUI offense

LEWES, Del. - May 20, 2009 The latest incident happened at approximately 11:30 Tuesday night on Route 9, east of CR 261, in Lewes.

A patrol officer observed a Chevrolet pickup truck swerve back and forth on the roadway. The officer stopped the truck and approached the driver, identified as James B. Walsh, 40, of New Road in Lewes.

The Trooper could smell the odor of alcohol on Walsh's breath, and eventually took him into custody.

Walsh was transported back to Troop 7 where a computer check revealed he had five previous DUI convictions.

James Walsh was formally charged with Felony DUI and Failure to Obey a Traffic Control Device. He was committed to the Sussex Correctional Institute in lieu of $10,250 secured bond.
