Pit bull shot during police raid

Delaware State Police say an officer had to shoot a pit bull during a drug raid on a Newark home.It happened on the 1700 block of Godwin Drive on Wednesday.

The dog was alive at last report, and being treated by a veterinarian.

33-year old Joseph Walling was arrested at the house on felony drug charges and on charges related to the care of his dogs.

Investigators say the pit bull that was wounded had charged at a trooper twice.

A second dog was removed from the home without incident.
