Police: Woman sexually assaults 13-year-old

LANSDALE, Pa. - May 21, 2009 Already stunned by the arrest of North Penn math teacher Heather Zeo, this Lansdale community got word about 26-year-old Katherine Dennery.

On Friday, May 1, 2009, at approximately 7:20 p.m., a resident on the 800 block of Walnut Street in Lansdale reported that she, along with two other people witnessed Dennery sexually assaulting a 13-year-old boy in the basement of Dennery's home.

"She lives right next door to me, I mean it's crazy because she looks like a very nice lady walking down the street," neighbor Steven Feliciano said.

Investigation revealed that on the day of the incident, Dennery furnished alcohol to the victim and a second 13-year-old boy. Dennery lured the victim to her basement where one of several assaults took place.

Erica Morano, a curious guest to the home at that time, says she sneaked downstairs to see what was going on.

"And they were having sex on the sofa. I was on my stomach going down the steps [and then] we took pictures," Morano said.

Morano says as Dennery was having sex with one of the 13-year-olds, she used a cell phone to take pictures, but Dennery grabbed the camera phone and erased the pictures.

"I said, how could you do that to a 13-year-old kid?" Morano said.

Action News spoke with the 13-year-old's father. He says he had met Dennery before from the neighborhood, but never expected this.

"With the economy, the recession, everybody's struggling to make ends meet, then you have this on top of it," the father said.

Dennery, while being interviewed by Lansdale Detectives, admitted she had sexual intercourse with the victim who she knew to be 13 years of age.

Police say Dennery has no prior criminal history.

She is being held in lieu of $25,000 bail at the Montgomery County Correctional Facility facing charges of statutory sexual assault, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, corruption of minors and furnishing alcohol to minors.
