Witness in '07 DSU shooting found

DOVER, Del. - May 22, 2009 - The Attorney General's Office confirmed Thursday that the witness, whose testimony was considered key to the case, had been located.

The witness gave police details that prosecutors have said in court documents could have cleared former DSU student Loyer Braden of East Orange, N.J., of fatally shooting 17-year-old Shalita Middleton of Washington, D.C.

However, charges against 20-year-old Braden were dismissed earlier this week after the witness could not be found and a judge ruled that prosecutors withheld evidence that could compromise Braden's right to a fair trial.
