"We've got like 250 species and about 550 animals, including a good variety of exotic animals," explains Dr. Hubert Paluch, a veterinarian and the Zoo's director.
Giraffes, zebras and ostriches occupy the African savannah area. There's a reptile house, a lion and a tiger, whose habitat is getting an upgrade this summer.
"One of our most popular residents is Rocky the Tiger, " explains Lenora Boninfante, Cape May County's communications director.
She says Rocky will get a new habitat with rocks to climb on and a waterfall.
And as much as the zoo has to offer, it's not the only attraction in the 200 acre complex.
There are also nature trails, tennis and basketball courts, a picnic area and a fishing pond.
"And it's all free, 364 days a year, " Boninfante says. The park is closed on Christmas day.
