Arrest in deadly Bristol hit and run

Bristol Twp., Pa. - May 23, 2009 - 28-year-old Jennifer Harley was killed in a hit and run early Saturday morning in Bristol Township.

Police were able to track down the red Dodge Durango that ran off from the scene and have taken the driver into custody.

The hit and run occurred at the intersection of route 413 and 13 at around 3:00 a.m.

Jennifer and a friend were reportedly walking along the road when the SUV allegedly struck Jennifer.

Her family says the driver returned to the scene momentarily, only to flee again.

Jennifer was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her family unleashed their raw emotions after an agonizing day of wondering who the hit and run driver was.

While police won't release the name of the woman who was driving the Durango, they do say she is a 27-year-old woman from Levittown.

Along with Shaun Patton, Jennifer had two children, 5-year-old Shaun Jr. and 3-year-old Connor.

Elder Shaun was visibly shaken to hear that the driver of the car was close to his age.

"I grew up around this area my entire life and I'm only 28 years old, if they're 27, that means, I went to school with them or even know them from around here," Shaun Sr. said.

The driver of the SUV apparently turned herself in at Bristol Police headquarters with an attorney.

"I'm glad she turned herself in. She needed to," Jennifer's mother, Tina Harley, said.

Police say the driver's name will be released only after the hit and run investigation is complete.

Jennifer's family, in the meantime, will wait for those details and begin to make funeral arrangements for a mother who leaves behind two young boys.
